Roadside Monument – I am the Day of Current Taste – CD
(Tooth & Nail Records) The first few times I listened to this I just couldn’t write a review. I don’t know why, but I just didn’t know what to really say (A first for Grog, Mr. talkative). Now, maybe I’m in the right frame of mind or something so I can finally accomplish this review. Musically they remind me of Cupid Car Club, (but with extended instrumental jam portions that tend to annoy me) on some songs and like Dinosaur Jr. on other songs with the same annoying instrumental bits. The vocals bring to mind a smoother J. Mascis. I would really like this if it weren’t for all those extended instrumental parts which are tacked onto the songs, maybe live it’s ok, but I just can’t stand it.
